Area Meeting Family Day 2011
On the 22nd of May eight children, aged 3 to 12, (and quite a few adults) from across the Area Meeting
met at Winchester Meeting House for a Family Day.
We started during Children's Meeting 'making friends' out of playdough and doing a Quaker treasure
hunt in the garden.
After joining the end of Meeting for Worship we enjoyed a shared lunch in the
Children's room and garden.

Then in the afternoon we discussed early Quakers, made Quaker hats, sang
together, played cooperative games with a parachute and created a colourful painting on the theme of
walking cheerfully with lots of hand and foot prints.
In between the activities the children had a great time playing together in the Meeting House garden.
So the day brought together children from a variety of Local Meetings (including the Isle of Wight) allowing
those from small Children's Meetings to meet other Quaker children.

From the comments I've heard everyone had a great time and the day was much appreciated - my
daughter didn't want to go home even though everyone else had already left!
Thank you to all those who helped with organising the day and/or came to help on the day, and to
Winchester for hosting us.
