Portsmouth Friends Meeting House
Wednesday 18th January 2012 at 6.45 p.m. Guided meditation led by Marjorie Bye, at the Meeting House.
The meditation will be based on Taoist techniques from Wu dang mountain in China. Please wear loose clothes; this meditation requires some gentle slow Qi Gong exercise.
Saturday 21st January 2012 from 12.15 p.m. to 1.15 p.m. 3rd Saturday Peace Vigil, Arundel Street/Commercial Road.
We will be handing out the Friends House leaflet 'Quakers and Peace'. Come along for all or part of the hour (contact is Peter Higgins).
Sunday 22nd January 2012: Meeting for Worship followed by bring and share lunch.
Lorna Watson will be giving a talk entitled 'An Affirming Flame - the work of QPSW'. Lorna is a member of the QPSW speakers panel. Her talk will start with a general overview of QPSW work with a more detailed exposition of the work directed by the Turning the Tide Committee, of which Lorna is a member. She will also talk about the Circles of Support and Accountability and the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme. There will also be time for questions and discussion.
Winchester Friends
Wednesday 11th and Wednesday 18th January 2012 from 12.30 to 1.00 p.m. at the United Church, Jewry Street, Winchester.
Space in The City: This is an ecumenical venture, organised through Winchester's City Churches (see www.spaceinthecity.org.uk for more information)
Spring 2012: 11 and 18 January; 1 and 8 February: Four talks by Bishop Christopher Herbert, on Perception, Belief and Ethics.
i) Seeing and believing: is religion just a point of view?
ii) Catching our attention: making decisions about priorities in life.
iii) Out of sight and therefore ...? Older people in society.
iv) Double vision: the ethics of assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Sandwiches available. Admission free - donations welcome.
Monday 16th January 2012 at 7.30 p.m. (refreshments at 7) at the Meeting House.
The first in our series on Paths to Spirituality. This will be led by Vernon Baker, and will be a personal account of his own spiritual journey, encompassing Buddhism, George Fox and much else.
Further discussion meetings will be on the third Monday in each month. All welcome.
